Website

Hi girls!

Ok. What do you think about laying the website out like this.

HOME- Explanation, standards, image

ABOUT PROJECT BASED LEARNING- Description of PBL and how it fits into our project, Blog URL, Podcast

INTRO TO WEATHER MONITORING- Concept Map, Weather Vocabulary Lesson Plan

PEN PALS- Pen Pals digital story, pen pals write up, google maps

DATA COLLECTORS- 3 data collection lesson plans, DIGITAL STORY ABOUT COLLECTING DATA (THIS IS GOING TO BE MY NEW ITEM)

REPORTING THE WEATHER- Meteorology digital story, Meteorology Lesson Plan, Reporting the weather to our school digital story

What do you guys think? I'm just throwing out an idea. Please let me know what you think should be different/added. Also..I was thinking of a couple things:

1. At the bottom of the page we have to say who created it. So they all look alike lets all write "Page Created By: OUR NAME" at the bottom of the page in the middle. Under that we can write Contact us at edt3470weathermonitoring2012@gmail.com. Sound good?

2. Since each of us have to find three new websites. Lets just find them for whatever pages you end up being responsible for.

3. My new thing going to be a digital story about data collecting to tie that page together. So I will do the data collectors page if that's cool.

How does this sound? What pages do you guys want to do? Also, let's pic a font/size to go with throughout the site.

Talk soon :)

Team Website

Hey ladies, this week we have A TON of stuff to do, and we have to do it together. We really need to be checking the blog everyday throughout the week so we can keep each other updated. Also, if you haven't already, you really need to read through the instructions module for the team website assignment, it's quite lengthy. We have to sign up for a team Gmail email, and I can do that as soon as I finish this, as well as get the Website created. I'll send you guys the links for everything once it is created. Once again, we just really need to make sure and communicate with each other this week because everything we've done so far, plus more has to be added to this website.
Thanks for you cooperation,
Kelsey

Digital Story

Hey ladies! This week we have to make a Digital Story, using MovieMaker. The movie we make has to focus on a concept from our project topic. The movie is supposed to serve as an introduction to a part of the unit. We all need to focus on different concepts, so I though I'd post early on in the week to see what you guys want to do yours on. I'm not sure if I'll be online much this weekend and would like to get a jump start on this assignment. I think I'll do mine on Meteorology, since that's what I did my lesson plan on. If either of you have any problems with that let me know.
Have a great week!!

Concept Map

Hey girls!

So this week we have to resubmit the concept map and do some data thing. Since I did the concept map the first time, I'll have to give one of you the information to log in and work on it this round. Just let me know which one of you would like to be responsible for it. I have updated it a little since the very first time but I think I posted that version on here already. Talk to you soon!

Podcast

Hi Girls! We need to collaborate this week for our podcast. We can use the three concepts in the directions, unless you have other ideas, for the things each of us discuss [Why we are using Project Based Learning, what we have done so far, and the things we will still be doing]. So we can each pick one to talk about and then post our scripts under this post. I am not familiar with Audacity at all. Are either of you? I'm sure the directions explain how to send this to each other and record...let's focus on what we are going to say first. I will do the section about project based learning, unless one of you would prefer that topic. Talk soon! Dianne.

Lesson Plans

Hey Ladies!

We have to have three separate lesson plans done by tonight. I'm planning on relating mine to the weather journal. Kelsey and I have talked about this and she is comfortable doing any part from the concept map. Dianne, if there is a specific part that you have already started or wish to do, let us know on here :) We were thinking you would probably be most interested in the Pen Pal lesson. Kelsey and I will be on the blog periodically all day. Keep in touch!

Part B- Google Maps

Our students are going to find the route from Kalamazoo, Michigan to Fairbanks, Alaska where our students' pen pals live. Students will use Google Maps to do so. We will be learning about timezones. After that, students will be printing off their maps that show the route from Kalamazoo to Fairbanks and marking, on the map of the United States, where there timezones are. As a part of their report, students will need to explain the timezone change between Kalamazoo and Fairbanks. Here is what the map should look like:

Pen Pals :)

Okay- I made it so we can all edit the Google Doc. Go ahead and change WHATEVER you want! And then I will log back on Sunday and I am planning on working on the Google Maps assignment then. If you guys have any ideas for that, let's leave them here. I have don't know how we should work it in yet.

Hope you guys have a good weekend!

Virtual Pen Pals/Google Maps

Hi girls-

I am just thinking ahead because I am in a wedding this coming week so I need to start working on this weeks assignments. I am going to create a google doc by Wednesday with a draft to a Pen Pals assignment. I will make it so we can all edit and then you guys can add/change whatever you're thinking. We have to pick where out class's pen pals will be from. Any thoughts? Our students will be writing them about their weather, specifically, so we might want to consider somewhere with different weather from Michigan. Some ideas might be: Washington (state), North Carolina, Hawaii, Australia. (I don't know, I randomly came up with these. We can find an interesting city/elementary school. What do you think?)

The other part of this week is the google maps assignment. We have to decide how we want to incorporate this into our assignment. Any ideas? I'm thinking some sort of weather map activity? But I don't have any ideas on how that will work.

Talk to you guys soon! :)

Web Sites

Hey Ladies,

This week we are supposed to come up with three web sites that have to do with our project. Do you have any idea what type we should be looking for? Should the be like "teacher" sites with info on how to teach weather? Or "educational" for a student to use? I was just looking for a second and third opinion. Thanks
